Doors, Beaches and Other WTF.

As anyone who has been in the Philippines for any length of time knows, looks are more important than what is inside. How many times have you cruised the net looking for a nice resort? You find  one that looks nice, book your room online and off you go. Upon arrival things for the most part are very different from what you saw online and if you decide to go elsewhere you hear "NO REFUND". So in the month of February my wife booked a room online for her birthday for one night and off we go.

We arrive and the place looks nice and well maintained, roomy and so forth, there ends the good experience.  So we check in and the staff enters info into the computer at the front desk and we go sit by the pool and Jacuzzi when our son ask to turn the Jacuzzi on only to be told "brownout" several times. But stupid me I remembered that the staff was using the computer and internet when we checked in. I also noticed that the main pool had the circulation jets running. So again son ask staff to turn it on "Wala, brownout" we were told once again. Within a few minutes a security guard walks by and we ask again, I can see the water jets in the pool from my chair. Guard walks over and withing 1 minute the Jacuzzi is on.

Now I don't know about you all but I like a hot bath/shower and this resort had a bathtub and shower in our room. So in the room I turn the water on and wait and wait and wait and wait never getting hot water. When this was brought to staff attention they said you have to let it run. I even tried at 2am, 3am, 4am before giving up and trying to get some sleep. At least the air conditioning worked. So I get up at 7am turn the "hot" water on and let it run while I order breakfast, eat breakfast and still no hot water after an hour and a half of checking every 10 minutes or so.

But the room was big and did have cable tv. Well that is as long as you only wanted to watch one channel with a thick line running across the center of the screen. Now this room had a front door and a sliding rear door to a private patio which I thought was nice. The front door was hung so bad that there was about a 1/2 inch crack all along it, but it did lock. There was a sign in the room saying lock your room to prevent theft. But for some damn reason when you locked the sliding door to the patio it would unlock itself and slide open about 2 inches. Looking at the beach it did seem pretty decent until son asked me to go down with him and look for shells. Yes trash along the shoreline and I picked up handful of broken glass. What is it with filipinos and breaking glass anyone know? The odd part is that a German and his wife own the place. Guess he did not inspect it when building or finished. And this was an upscale resort!!

DOORS!!!! What is it about doors that is so complicated and confuses the filipinos so much, anyone? I've rented places where the doors would not shut without slamming because they were hanged crooked. Doors that when you open or close them they break, pull the hinge out of the wall and fall off and so on. The place I'm in now, well they installed the knob so far back that it will not latch shut most of the time. Then there are the filipinos themselves. If the door works great they have to pile so much shit behind it that you cannot open it all the way. The newest fad in my house now is to hang clothes on a hanger on the door knob. Open the door, walk in and knock the clothes off.

And yes for you old PFBers, mother in law still went to the cr and left the door wide open. At least until "T" showed up. Now she leaves it cracked open about 2 inches or so but "T" won't shut it when he pisses. So now I have a 77 year old man and an 80 female who thinks everyone wants to see them piss.

I have been trying to get a fridge in my room because I can hardly get room for anything in the main fridge. But today I got one!!! I pulled our other fridge out of the dirty kitchen and moved it to my room. What caused this miracle you ask? Well first of all I drink imported milk from the states and "T" started drinking my milk, a luxury item for me. But what brought it about was wife said best "if I had the fridge in my room because the driver is drinking my beer."

If you read my article about the fire then you will know about "T" and how we now have a security guard at our house. Well as with everything with filipinos be careful and watch. Said guard asked that the maid turn the outside lights off when we went to bed. He would then take 4 chairs and make himself a bed and go to sleep, work filipino style. Little does he know he just lost his "good job" bonus when this is over if he has not lost his job. Wife going to the security agency over this, "We do not pay him to sleep."

Well again we had another blackout so there goes the internet and cable tv. Electric comes back on and it takes the internet company 30 minutes or more to figure out they need to turn the net back on.

Now our son goes to a private school and they decided to do a talent show in a mall. Did I say I hate going to events like this?  They get those plastic chairs and set them up, nothing wrong there right. But ever notice that the filipinos sit down and they ALWAYS do certain things that fuck everything up? Like:
1.) Move the chairs into the aisle so no one can get through.
2.) Go all the way up front and stand in front of the first row so no one else can see. Then first row stands up blocking and so forth.
3.) They move the chairs around so no one can get in or out.
This is one of those rants. I'm sitting there at 4:30 PM waiting for a show to start that was set to start at 3:00 PM, another reason I hate going to events like this. So I'm sitting there when a pinay sits in front of me, a fat one at that too. Well this pinay saves 2 chairs for her friends that are are the way, no problem there as I have about two foot distance between the back of her chair and my knees. Her friends show up, both pinay and first thing they move one chair into the aisle preventing it's use. The other pinay sits to the left of fat ass.

Then within a few minutes it starts, they start sliding their chairs back and back. I start speaking up and sure enough they act like they don't hear what I'm saying, another filipino trait. My wife is getting nervous as she knows I will most likely say or do something, she's right by the way. Now their chairs are into my knees so I moved back a few inches and here they come again, chairs in the knees. I say things loud enough for the filipinos behind me to hear yet fat ass and her friend that are closer act like they don't hear anything and keep pushing back. I lean forward between them, get the "eye" from my wife as she knows now I had enough. So leaning forward and my head just above their shoulders I say, "Pardon me. But I'm going to go ahead and leave now so you fat asses can't keep pushing your chairs back into my knees."

The blank stares combined with a "I can"t believe he said that to us." look came over their faces. My wife just sat there looking at them and me. I get up and walk off as they start their gabbing. From the second floor I watched the show standing up and noticed something. Every time a filipino stood in front of fat asses they were quick to scold the filipino and tell them to move.

Laying linoleum is just as bad. Last house had it in every room, no problem right? Except they did not sweep before putting it down and you were always stepping on little rocks under it. They painted the stairs a dark color and could not tell one from the other as you went down. But then son walks up the stairs and a large part of the paint cracks and comes up,what's under it? A white powder.Laying linoleum is just as bad. Last house had it in every room, no problem right? windows - what about the fact they don't build for aspect, they just build a product to a price. I have been into places that look towards more buildings. There was a tiny window behind which i got up on a chair to have a look and it had uninterrupted and amazing skyline views of Makati. Another, built views towards suburbia when the back of the building the aspct was to a mountain and trees.windows - what about the fact they don't build for aspect, they just build a product to a price. FHPS, Knew a kano in Surigao who had double pane sliding windows ordered and installed. So he goes to check on the installation only to find they installed the windows backwards. Yes, the window locks were on the outside.

It's all about front appearance. Ever see the houses or gov buildings that are painted real nice facing the street, but as you pass them they did not paint the sides? It's almost like they really think people will not notice. But I am willing to bet that the paint was in the budget yet went into personal bank accounts. It's all about front appearance. There are two types of pride. One you throw into your efforts, one you throw into the face of others.

Try fencing.... I put up a fence on my province property back in 2015 to prevent asswipe uncle's goats from eating my plants. This year I've had to get the damn fence fixed twice!!! Because the carpenters (how dare they call themselves that??) did not dig the holes deep enough the posts were leaning on one side, and only 2 weeks ago, one part of the fence had fallen altogether. The property Mactan is another fencing saga for another time. Useless, incompetent Flips!!Try fencing....
