I Just Heard Gerry's Grill Has Good Food But....

I was having a chat with a core member here and he had told me to try Gerry's Grill. I'd heard this some time ago, and it reminded me about my first and only experience with Gerry's Grill about a year or so ago.

Me and a buddy were roaming around the mall and decided we'd check out Gerry's Grill. Passing by, the host invited us in and told us to sit where ever we like. The restaurant was nearly empty.

There were 6 or 7 servers standing around, 3 or 4 of them even made eye contact with me, and continued to stand around for another few minutes. Nobody greeted us with menus.....nothing. So I told my buddy to just not say anything or motion to any of them. Let's see how long it takes for them to realize we have come in and sit at a table because we want to be served, not just looked at.

7 minutes since we sat down. Employees still glancing over at us, but doing nothing but watching me and my buddy facepalming, shaking our heads, and laughing. It's now 10 minutes and nobody has even brought us a menu.

We watched a couple of servers tending to the two other occupied tables in the restaurant. Both passed us by each time they came to and from the other tables. My buddy and I felt like we were invisible.

After 15 minutes of being completely ignored, we both got up, the servers standing around watched us walking out. The host asked us if we enjoyed our meal. I told her we hadn't even been acknowledged or given a menu since you invited us in 15 minutes ago, and the restaurant is nearly empty. We never ate anything, and we're hungry, but apparently your stupid-ass servers don't want to fucking work. So we're going somewhere else.

Nobody seems to have the balls enough to report them, not that any enforcement would likely come from such a labor complaint.....

They pay their employees shit and treat them like shit but we are the bad ones once again whenever we point out how fucked they are. I'd pay my employees the minimum wage and raise it as I see fit. I thought these people were religious, guess not, I thought you were supposed to pay your servants and workers a living wage, or are they indentured servants or slaves? They pay their employees shit and treat them like shit but we are the bad ones once again whenever we point out how fucked they are. I had a pretty good experience the one time I went to Gerry's. Food was great, service was decent enough. It really depends who's on shift. Sad to hear it's going down for the count. Sometimes they just like to fuck with foreigners. When I'm there with the wife and kid, the service is pretty good. Almost anywhere I go alone, I get fucked with one way or another. They're assholes.I had a pretty good experience the one time I went to Gerry's. Food was great, service was decent enough. It really depends who's on shift. Sad to hear it's going down for the count. I was in Dumaguete last year and went to one of the newer Italian restaurants on the blvd. Ordered a pizza and drinks for the fam and a milkshake for the kid. Kiddo was getting thirsty, so I wandered up to the espresso bar to see what the hangup was. Sure enough, the dildo-choking, cock maggot who was supposed to be making her drink was squatting on the floor behind the counter with a compact mirror and pair of tweezers, picking hairs out of his nose. When I spotted him, he stood up, grabbed a glass and proceeded to make my daughter's drink. I promptly yelled at him and embarrassed him in front of his coworkers and boss (I know, bad idea if you have plans for a long life in this country - but I couldn't help it!). We packed up and as we tried to leave, they tried to stick us for the uneaten pizza that had arrived. I'm starting to really, really get the picture from those who say "If you don't leave the Philippines, then why don't you leave". Starting to think they have a point. I never had this kind of shit go on in Thailand or Vietnam. People here are arrogant, egomaniacal, assholes.I was in Dumaguete last year and went to one of the newer Italian restaurants on the blvd. @LivinWithTheBlues - In the early years I was in Philippines, when I would run into a situation like you describe, I too would raise my voice when complaining. And 98% of the time, all the flips within hearing range, employees and customers alike, would stare at me with dirtly looks as if saying, "who are you to complain about us Filipinos! How dare you complain!"

And it matters not one bit how justified and valid my complaint is. It's the fact that I'm complaining at all that seems to make them look sideways at me.

And that's probably a big contributing reason why service and food is so fucking bad in Philippines. Nobody complains. You take what you're given, and be happy, even if you're not happy. You keep your fucking mouth shut and eat it.
