Harbor Point mall is the local creation of the massive Ayala Corporation here in Sewerbic Bay. Just inside the Subic Freeport Zone in Olongapo City. About 4 years old now.
I would like to know who the architects were so they can be shamed internationally for their blatant stupidity and ignorance.
Why you ask? Well, this mall was designed with no gutters and one of the walkways joining the 2 sections of the mall is only partially undercover. Whatever moron designed this mall has taken zero consideration of rainwater runoff and drainage issues.
In a country that has some 4 months a year of “Wet Season”, the stupidity of the design beggars belief. Ayala is a massive conglomerate and has a multitude of malls throughout the Failappines so they should certainly know better.
Every wet season the outside areas are soaked with puddles forming every where and the lack of guttering to direct the runoff is a primary cause. It also cause a huge amount of splash back as the water just drips on to the paths and walkways. You would think this was designed by some clueless kid or done for a dare.
In addition to the drainage the tiling around the outside is cracking in numerous locations. Not a design issue but a preparation issue. What is another design issue is the use of tiles which are slippery when wet. Tiles for wet areas need to be slip resistant.
I would understand if this was a government project as they wouldn’t give a shit but I am surprised Ayala came up with this moronic design.
Rant, over. Any other examples?Published in
