Well, this is not new to the Fail-appines… Scams abound at all levels and Departments from police down to Filipino’s scamming each other. It’s a national past time to be scamming each other out of something, not just money in one form or fashion…. they are opportunist’s looking to extract as much as they can at every turn … foreigners living in the Philippines tend to feel this “needy greedy” energy more so than tourists but this latest scam from what is a long shopping list of scams the Philippines is famous for is called the bullet in the bag extortion scam.
I couldn’t have thought up better …but leave a job to the hands of a Filipino worker intent on sleeping on the job or ripping off his employer or customers and you’ll eventually find shit rising to the top and smelling…and no, they can’t help themselves if there’s a stupid way to extort money… Filipino’s will try it.
Like clockwork, Filipino workers will work some way to add a little bit more “cream” to their daily income – whether it be receiving corrupt payments, doing “favours” for friends and family, getting the odd 5 or 20 pesos tip here and there for opening a taxi door or worse still … putting bullets in passengers luggage.
Yup… from cops to security to government workers. The very people whom Filipino’s trust have been involved in setups to kidnappings in the country. Sadly, it’s NGO’s like ICAT that believe the lies of these corrupt workers and its the victims, whom, in some cases like foreigners who have been setup by lying ex-filipina girlfriends, bent cops, local politicians and business people with an axe to grind etc. I’ve heard the same stories too many times. Like moths to a flame, do-gooder NGO’s hell bent on cleaning up the world don’t realise the very authorities they are supposedly teaming up with are they themselves fucking corrupt! Some of these NGO’s go so far as to make payments thinking it will help focus local law enforcement into cleaning up whatever crimes perpetuated by foreigners.
YES SIR – from the people who bought you the worlds worst airport comes the bullet in the luggaged extortion scam. And yes, THEY ARE THINKING FILIPINO because they think they can get away with it, like everything else.
