Ok, so I wanted to test out the new blog submission page for myself, and see if there’s anything it can’t do, that the other system could. So I’m writing this post from the new blog submission system, instead of from the admin area where I normally write my posts.
So by highlighting this text, I can change the formatting (how the text looks). The text that I highlight, is what will be changed to my selected formatting. When I highlight or click a text, formatting choices pop up. See image below.
After you have inserted your image, if you want to format the image to be on the right or left of your text, click the image and select one of the alignment choices.
This is what it looks like if you chose the left alignment of your photo. You can then click to the right of the photo and start typing your text just like this and it will show like this in your post, with the photo shrunk down and to the left, and you’ve typed your text on the right. Choose right photo alignment and of course you can do the opposite.
And then you can keep on typing another paragraph. This new blog submission system will auto-save as you move along. If you stop your typing / activity, it will auto-save your draft so that you don’t loose your hard work when composing.
This is what it looks like if you choose the right side photo alignment. Yeah, I know this is all “DUH”, but I’m just doing this to teach myself how this works, so that maybe it will save you some time figuring it out if you’re not the most computer savy person.
You can even start a new paragraph and it will just keep on to the side of the photo until you fall below it and then will continue full width of the page. And now I’m running out of words to type to make this happen. Hopefully I can just keep typing shit until I get enough words to demonstrate what I’m trying to show here. Damn I hope it will keep going to full content soon, which as you can see, it has, thus proving my point that if you keep typing, your text will simply wrap around your photo making your post look clean and professional. Isn’t that great? Whoopie!
Adding Category, tags, and the featured image
At the top right of the blog submission page, you’ll see an icon next to the “preview” button. Click that, and you can select a category, write in some tags, and upload your featured image (that is the image that will appear on the front page of the blog).
And there you have it folks! I’ve discovered by doing this, that it doesn’t have the power that the WYSIWYG editor has, but essentially, you can still create nice looking posts with this. And once you have familiarized yourself with how it works, it will be quick and easy.
I was having some technical conflicts with the previous system. It didn’t integrate all that well with this site theme. This new system was created specifically for this site theme, by the authors of this site theme, so it has no conflicts and integrates perfectly.
